Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin will reportedly undergo season-ending surgery on his dislocated ankle, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport Tuesday (October 22) morning.

"#Bucs WR Chris Godwin will undergo surgery on his dislocated ankle this week, sources say. He’ll see a doctor today to determine the damage & is expected to make a full recovery for 2025 — when he’ll be a FA. Godwin was in a career year with 576 receiving yds — 2nd in the NFL," Rapoport wrote on his X account.

Godwin suffered the injury with 43 seconds remaining in the Bucs' Monday Night Football loss to the Baltimore Ravens during a play that the ESPN broadcast refrained from replaying. The Bucs ran seven more plays, having already trailed by 10 points before failing to score.

Godwin recorded seven receptions for 65 yards prior to his injury Monday night and was on pace to record more than 100 receptions and 1,000 receiving yards for the fourth consecutive season, having recorded 130 receptions for 1,024 yards during the 2023 season. The veteran wide receiver had previously suffered a season-ending knee injury in December 2021.

Godwin has spent his entire career with the Buccaneers since being selected at No. 82 overall in the third-round of the 2017 NFL Draft. The former Penn State standout was a Pro Bowler and a Second-team All-Pro in 2019, as well as a member of the Super Bowl LV team in 2020.

The Buccaneers, who had already lost fellow wide receiver Mike Evans to a hamstring injury earlier in the Monday Night Football loss, fell to 4-3 on Monday night, but remain tied for first-place with the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC South Division standings.
