American weightlifter Olivia Reeves is making waves in the world of sports. Born on April 19, 2003, in Lexington, Kentucky, and raised in Hixson, Tennessee, the 21-year-old athlete is a gold-medal contender in the women’s 71kg weight class. Reeves' rapid rise in the field has even prompted Olympian and Tokyo silver medalist Kate Vibert to move up a weight class to increase her chances at another Olympic bid.

Reeves began weightlifting at the age of 12 at her parents' CrossFit gym. Her talent quickly became apparent, and she has since set multiple American records. At the 2024 IWF Weightlifting World Cup in Phuket, Thailand, Reeves won three gold medals, lifting a 118kg snatch and a 150kg clean and jerk for a total of 268kg.

This summer, the U.S. weightlifting squad that she is a part of could potentially break a 24-year Olympic gold-medal drought in the discipline. Reeves' performance in Paris will mark her first Olympic appearance.

Reeves is currently pursuing a degree in sociology at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Despite her busy schedule, she maintains a rigorous training regimen under coach Steve Fauer at Tennessee Speed and Strength. Her dedication and hard work have paid off, earning her a spot on the U.S. Olympic roster.
